Founded
in 1946, Camp Taum Sauk has been owned and managed since 1958
by the Smith family who have applied their years of experience
to developing a unique summer camp with a strong concern for
safety with emphasis on individual attention. Occupying 145
acres along the Black River, Camp Taum Sauk accommodates 60
boys and 60 girls with cabins for the latter complete with bathrooms.
With one mile of beach front, water sports of all kinds are
a mainstay of the numerous, almost limitless, recreational activities
at the camp and include boat regattas, canoe float trips, rafting,
pontoon floats, sailing and kayaking. Daily horseback
rides are among the camp's popular attractions. Spelunking,
rock climbing, the high ropes challenge course,
archery, riflery, arts and crafts and many other activities

wonderfully secluded campground located on the upper west fork
of the scenic Black River provides several opportunities for
any nature enthusiast. Choose to spend your time floating
the river in canoes or rafts, hike through the woods, or sit

inhabit the area. Newly opened
in 2007, Dakota Ridge Campground has recently added several
wilderness campsites accessible via 4 wheel-drive vehicles only.

Floats and Campground is located at the East Fork Black River
Bridge on Highway 21 at Lesterville.
Established
in 1976, it
is owned and operated by Bob Franklin and family
and remains a small family owned business. We provide
personalized service. Services include canoe and kayak rentals,
cabin rental, campground with picnic tables fire rings and trash
barrels. There is a shower house with hot showers and flush
toilets. We have firewood available. A small store is located
at the campground and sells river supplies, snacks and beverages.
We also have Franklin Floats T-shirts and Black River maps.
We can shuttle private canoes, kayaks or vehicles. We
provide shuttles for hikers on the Ozark Trail
and year round service by appointment in the off-season.
Group rates are available as well as private group sites.
